How to flatshare with other students?

FUTURE STUDENTS
Your first few days on campus will be hectic with unpacking, setting up your room and learning about the services offered. We recommend that you take a few minutes prior to arriving to chat with your roommate. Follow the tips below to lay the foundation for a successful relationship with your roommate.
Contract Early – the earlier you contract, the earlier you get to select your residence hall room and the earlier you can contact your potential roommate to see if you’re a good match. Rooms and roommates are assigned to students who contract after the online room selection period.
Be honest – when you fill out your Student Profile, answer the questions honestly. If you are a late riser and a bit messy, be sure to mention this. Later, when your potential roommate contacts you, be sure to have a frank conversation.
Communicate With Your Potential Roommate – You’ll get contact info for your roommate once you select a room, provided the other space is reserved. (If you do not have a roommate yet, keep checking back online in the Housing Portal, which is where you completed your contract.) Contact your roommate through email, phone, social media sites or whatever contact information is provided. If you are a good match, great! If not (and if the online room selection is still open), consider checking out other vacant rooms for a potentially better match. Be sure to discuss cleanliness, overnight guests, schedules, etc. Use "The Roommate Quiz" below to help you get the conversation going.
Split the Difference – Talk to your roommate to find out who’s bringing what. Be very clear on if it’s okay to share the stereo, appliances, TV, clothing, computer, phone, fridge, etc.
Embrace New Ideas and Cultures – We hope you and your roommate are able to introduce each other to new ideas and cultures. This is college – it’s an experience to last a lifetime – enjoy it!

Resolve Conflicts – If a misunderstanding occurs, try talking it out. If you need help, see your Resident Assistant BEFORE the conflict escalates!
